Product Data Governance Does Not Stop at Your PIM
Product data governance assigns ownership and controls the quality of approved product facts. But a governed catalog alone does not establish what AI assistants tell buyers. Manufacturers need a way to inspect that external answer against the approved record.
What your PIM and governance team own
Product, compliance and catalog teams decide the approved model identity, variant, technical attributes, market context and authoritative manufacturer sources. ProductKnowledgeGraph does not replace those approval or master-data workflows.
What the AI answer check adds
Capture a buyer question and the assistant response. Compare product identity, cited attributes and destination URLs against the approved product record. Distinguish a correct match, a conflict and insufficient evidence.
A reviewable correction process
Give the appropriate owner the source, the observed claim and the reason for a mismatch. Review a proposed correction before publication, then recheck the same question. Changes to a source do not guarantee an AI answer will change.
Scope an enterprise pilot
Start with a representative product family, high-risk specifications and actual buyer questions. Agree who owns source facts, who reviews AI observations and what evidence is sufficient for a decision.
What this does not promise
A published profile is not proof of retrieval or recommendation. A crawler visit is not proof of a buyer outcome. This verification layer is not a PIM, MDM or compliance certification service.
